CES 2015: Meet the Fastest Rear Wheel Electric Drive in the World
The first all American electric supercar, the Renovo Coupe is being showcased at the ongoing CES 2015 in Las Vegas. Manufactured by Renovo Motors, the 500 horsepower ‘Renovo Coupe’ supercar prototype includes a cockpit designed in collaboration with Nvidia and powered by the Tegra X1 chipset. The Renovo Coupe is the world’s first car to feature Nvidia’s new technology.
Christopher Heiser, Chief Executive Officer for Renovo Motors said-
“Renovo’s engineering collaboration with NVIDIA reflects its commitment to integrate the world’s most advanced automotive technology in the Coupe. Our goal is to make the Renovo Coupe the world’s highest-performing, most advanced electric supercar. We are very impressed with how NVIDIA technology has helped us make this a reality”
The electric supercar is setting new benchmarks in engineering since its announcement last year. It runs on a 740 volt lithium-ion battery unit to power its twin sequential axis flux motors that generates more than 500 horsepower and 1000 ft-lbs of torque. It zips to 60mph from standstill in less than 3.4 seconds, making it the fastest rear wheel drive electric vehicle in the world.
Electric cars will undeniably bring about a revolution in the way we commute. Prominent car manufacturers like Toyota and Chevrolet have already shown off their electric vehicles at CES 2015 hosting one of the biggest press events of the show. Governments and car manufacturers are tapping into the potential of electric vehicles and are investing heavily in setting up the required infrastructure for the proliferation of electric cars.
