Hyundai i30: Everything We Know

The Auto Expo 2016 was big. There were a lot of new unveilings and showcases from a number of brands that created quite a buzz. Hyundai India was among those that had more than two cars on display. One of the cars that had quite the buzz and rightly so was the unveiling of the i30 hatchback. The successor to the i20 will go on sale later this month. Here’s what we know about the i30 hatchback from the Auto Expo 2016.

The i30 will reportedly come in both petrol and diesel engines. The i30 will be offered in 1.4L petrol engine or a 1.6L petrol engine, providing a maximum power output of 118bhp/128bhp and maximum torque of 157Nm, mated to six-speed manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the 1.6-litre diesel variant will generate 134bhp and maximum torque of 178Nm, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The i30 will come with features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), 7-airbag system, xenon headlights with adaptive front lighting system, emergency stop signal and hill assist control. The hatchback also includes rain/light sensors, steering mounted controls and 17″ double spoke alloy wheels.

The new i30 features panoramic sunroof, LED daytime running lights and a unique new front grille. On the inside you find a 7-inch touchscreen navigation system with rear camera, two zone climate control, dual USB/iPod ports and an auxiliary port.

The hatchback will be available in 11 colour options – Aqua Blue, Ice Blue, Blue Berry, Steel Gray, Sleek Silver, Cool Red, Creamy White, Phantom Black, Hazel Brown, Cashmere Brown and Satin Amber.

At the Auto Expo 2016, Hyundai did not reveal the pricing of the i30 but speculations suggest that the car will have a base price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) and will go as high as Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) for the top-end variant.
