Honda to Launch an India-Centric 7-Seater SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016

Honda’s Brio platform has produced multiple body types that have aided the Japanese automaker to make good use of the sub-10 Lakh price space. While the Amaze and Mobilio often fare better than the Brio itself, Honda has been missing out on the compact SUV segment. In December 2013, Honda confirmed that they are indeed developing a compact SUV specifically for the Indian market that will be released in 2016.

Honda Cars India recently took their top dealerships to the company’s Research and Development facilities in Japan and showed them the freshly made compact SUV. However, Honda is planning to compact the SUV even more, thus rivaling the likes of both the Renault Duster and the Mahindra XUV500

The compact SUV will come with a seating capacity of seven occupants and it is expected to be based on the Mobilio. The upcoming SUV is anticipated to get an all-new and high-quality cabin. Designing highlights include larger wheel arches, body cladding, skid plates and roof fails. It is also expected to be powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine and a 1.5 litre petrol engine.

Honda will in all probability showcase the car at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 that takes place in February before launching it the same year.
