Next-Gen 2015 Audi Q7 Unveiled

The newest Audi Q7 has been unveiled today, foraying into its second generation with the new Q7 model. The most talked about aspect for the new Q7 is its ‘multimaterial’ construction, making extensive use of aluminium and steel. The new light weight construction has allowed the new Q7 to shed over 325kg over its predecessor.

Meanwhile, in terms of dimensions, the new Q7 has the same height as its outgoing counterpart, though 15mm narrower and 37mm shorter in length. Despite having a slightly shorter body, the cabin room is expected to be larger, with Audi claiming that the headroom is up by 41mm.

Coming to its interior design, its very reminiscent of the typical Audi straight lines and hefty switchgear. However, the new design theme has undergone a complete overhaul. The air vents have the same seamless design like the one in the new VW Passat. In addition, the new Q7 will sport the all new MMI infotainment system that is compatible with Google Play and Apple CarPlay.

Meanwhile, the exteriors have been tweaked as well, for the better it seems. The headlights have design cues very similar to the new A7, along with the new matrix LED headlamps. The grille now has a single frame which seamlessly flows into the headlights to create a flawless design. The new Q7 looks much more slick than its outgoing predecessor.

The new Q7 will initially have four variants in total, two 3.01 TDI diesel along with 3.01 TFSI and 2.01 TFSI petrol variants.

The SUV is expected to be showcased at the North American Motor Show, which kicks off from January 12, 2015 onwards. We can expect the car to be launched soon afterwards and we hope it arrives in the Indian sub-continent by mid 2015.
