Mercedes CLA45 AMG Spotted : Might Be The Cheapest Performance Sedan in India

Mercedes Benz wants to be the numero uno in the luxury car segment in India as well as globally. It has been launching new products every couple of months in the country. An Indian website has just listed the CLA45 AMG model and that means that the launch of the performance sedan is merely a couple of months away.

The C63 AMG has been removed from the website, as the next generation model of the same will bow in next year in the country.

Talking about the CLA45 AMG, it will be the cheapest performance hungry sedan from the stable of the German marque in India. Seeing the fact that it will be catering to a niche segment which wants nothing but the best. The volumes won’t be high enough, as it will be brought in via the CBU route.

This will however give its owners a feeling of buying a car “Made in Germany”. It is expected to be priced around the Rs 60 lakh mark and the sedan surely has its credentials backing it up to justify the price tag.

Propelling the sedan forth at the speed of lightning is a 2.0 litre turbo charged motor that belts out 360 bhp of maximum power and 450nm of peak torque. As of now, this is the most powerful 2.0 litre motor in the world. Seeing the fact that the car is quite light in terms of weight, it will dash from standstill to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds – before touching an electronically limited speed of 250 kmph.

The 4MATIC system coupled with a 7-speed AMG grade automatic transmission sends those 360 horses to all the four wheels. The CLA45 AMG comes with the regular AMG kit and gets an AMG steering wheel, pedals and gear lever coupled with aerodynamic bumpers with carbon fibre trims.

The CLA45 AMG is going to be a hoot to drive when it lands in India and will surely help MB take its AMG performance to a wider audience.
