Mercedes-Benz GLE to Launch in India on October 14
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class is getting a facelift with the all new Mercedes-Benz GLE that is soon to make its way onto the Indian roads from the 14th of October. Mercedes India has announced that the GLE SUV will come with the CKD (knock-down) kit and will be assembled in Pune.
The new Mercedes comes with two diesel engine options – 250d and the 350d engines. The India-spec model is expected to get the 3.0-litre V6 diesel that gives 258bhp for the 350d variant and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit producing 203bhp for the 250d. Both options will have a new 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. The Mercedes GLE will jump from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/hr.
The Mercedes GLE has some changes to the exterior, especially in the front, with new radiator grille, a new bonnet and a new front bumper, that gives it a sporty look. The rear-end also gets new LED tail-lamps. However, the sides and back of the SUV remains similar to the M-Class. Inside the GLE you will see a large 7-inch display with the latest COMAND interface and touchpad, among other things.
The GLE is expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing M-Class model, and should be somewhere in between Rs. 55 lakh – Rs-77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
