Volkswagen is Planning a Sub-4 Meter Sedan for India
India has shown an appreciation for Sub-4 meter Sedans. Cars like Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest have a good number of folks opting for them. Now German car maker, Volkswagen is trying to make an entry into this market.
The company has announced at the Paris Motor Show that it is currently developing sub-4 meter car exclusively for the Indian market. This new car is expected to be built on the platform of the Polo, which is quite a looker and delivers a good performance. The car is currently codenamed Polo Stuffe.
The car will inherit many of the specifications of the Polo. It will get Polo’s PQ25 platform and will also be powered by the same heart. The car will be sold with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine variants.
There are many benefits of a sub-4 meter sedan for an Indian consumer. A car with an extended boot is still seen as a status symbol. While the sub-4 meter sedan provides that, it also keeps the car conveniently sized so it can be easily maneuvered in the heavy urban traffic. They are great for practical everyday use and provide a good fuel mileage too.
