Hyundai Unveils Creta, the Latest Made-in-India SUV

Hyundai India has unveiled the new SUV Creta at its facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai. The SUV has been developed in India with an investment of around Rs. 1,000 crores riding on it. Creta marks Hyundai’s latest entry in the SUV segment after i20 Active and the Santa Fe.


“The CRETA is the most awaited and aspirational SUV of the year and would be a revolutionary product in the Hyundai portfolio. The global SUV CRETA will herald a new chapter in Hyundai Motor India’s success story and will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment of India with unmatched capabilities,” said BS Seo, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motors India Limited.

The SUV is available with a choice of petrol 1.6 Dual VTVT and U2 1.4 CRDi and U2 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engines with 6-speed automatic and manual transmission. The petrol variant offers a power of 123 PS while the diesel variants offer a power 128 PS.

Hyundai will export the Creta in the other markets, except for Europe. The company expects to sell around 4.65 lakh units, including all the brands, in the local markets. Currently, there is no word on the pricing of the SUV.
