Mercedes-Benz Unveils the New E-Class

Mercedes-Benz has finally lifted the veils off its next-generation E-Class model. Arguably one of the most anticipated cars this year, the new E-Class was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show. Earlier in the month, Mercedes released a teaser sketch of the car’s exterior, and back in December the company released an image of the interior.

“Emotional design and intelligent high-tech perfectly embody the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity,” Mercedes states in many of the social media sites after the release of the sketch. The E-Class comes with a sports grille and five-spoke wheels. The exterior design is similar to what we see on the S-Class and C-Class. The front bumper looks more aggressive and straightforward.

The iconic grille has the same simple, flowing lines typical of the E-Class, and looks a little imposing his time around due to its angular nature. The design language of the new E-Class is similar to the rest of the Mercedes lineup. The new E-Class is 1.7 inches longer than its predecessor.

The sedan’s interiors feature a leather and wood styling, new seats designed for comfort, touchpad controls on the steering wheel and an ultra-widescreen display comprising of two 12.3-inch diagonal screens. The sound system incorporates 23 Burmester 3D surround sound speakers.

Under the hood, the India-bound E-Class will feature a 2.0liter petrol unit, capable of producing 184PS of power output and 300Nm of torque. The diesel variant will feature another 2.0-liter engine capable of producing 194PS of power and 400Nm of torque.

There’s no doubt that the new interpretation of the E-Class is one of the best by Merc out there. No word yet on its India debut, but the sedan is likely to be present at the Delhi Auto Expo next month.
