Chevrolet Unveils New-Gen Spark AKA Beat, at the New York Auto Expo

The New York Auto Expo is the welcoming ground for many cars debuting this year. Recently, Chevrolet had teased the 2016 Spark, aka the Beat. Now, the car was showcased live at the New York Auto Expo 2015. The car will land in India and will probably be launched around the Delhi Auto Expo.

Under the hood, the power is delivered by a 1.4-litre Ecotec, four-cylinder engine that produces an approximate of 98bhp, as compared to its previous models that packed 77bhp. The engine is connected to either a five-speed manual or an optional continuously variable transmission. On the outside, the new Spark has completely renewed exteriors and interiors.

A new dual-port grille supports the traditional headlights. The bumper features fog lamps with a chrome surround. Other changes include new sloping roofline, a tailgate design and new alloy wheels. The overall height of the car has been reduced by 40mm, thus helping in maintaining aerodynamic drag and improving efficiency. The new Spark will also feature a Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch display.

The company plans to setup manufacturing plants in South Korea and export it to more than 40 markets in the world. The car will be hitting the Indian market next year, though currently there is no mention about its pricing.
