The much awaited hatch from South Korean manufacturer Hyundai – the Elite i20 Cross is expected to launch in India by the 9th of March. The upcoming offering from Hyundai has been eagerly awaited in the Indian market and now it seems the wait is finally over.

The Elite i20 Cross, based on Hyundai’s Elite i20 is likely to get a similar design language. A few tweaks include plastic-cladding, roof railing along with side body cladding.

Meanwhile, the car is expected to come with new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and slightly bigger alloy wheels. Overall, it is expected to sport a beefier design with a revamped front end featuring a new bumper, grille and air vents.

Under the hood, the upcoming crossover is likely to include the same 1.2 litre petrol and 1.4 litre diesel options as its smaller hatchback sibling, though in a slightly higher tuning. The petrol unit is tuned to churn out 83PS of power with a peak torque of 114 Nm, while the diesel unit can generate 90PS of power with a peak torque of 220Nm.

The Elite i20 Cross will go head on against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross and the model is expected to get a price tag of around 8 lakh, i.e roughly above Rs.50,000 – 70,000 over the equivalent trim in the Elite i20 range.
