BMW 6 Series Facelift Unveiled Ahead of Official Launch

The 2016 BMW 6 series has been unveiled ahead of its scheduled first public appearance at the Detroit Auto Show next month. Foraying into the next year, the BMW 6 series will again be available in three variants – Coupe, Convertible and Grand Coupe.

There aren’t any noticeable upgrades made to the luxury car. In terms of design, barring the new front bumper and a slightly tweaked kidney grille which is larger than last year, other design changes are barley noticeable. The headlamps are now equipped with LED multi-beam lights as standard while on the rear, the bumper design has undergone a slight tweak.

Coming to interiors, the design seems more or less similar apart from the dual tone leather upholstery options along with a Head-Up Display.

Under the hood, the power-trains remain the same as that of its predecessor. The Twin Turbo V8 (650i) churns out 445 horsepower and 480Nm torque via an 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission, while the TwinPower Turbo inline 6 cylinder (640i) pumps out 315 horespower and 330Nm via the same 8 speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission.

It is expected that all three BMW 6 Series variants will be available in India as a CBU unit, hence updated models are expected to come in India soon after their international launch. In addition, four new exterior paint jobs have been added, namely Glacier Silver, Cashmere Silver, Mediterranean Blue and Melbourne Red.
