Mercedes-Benz to Launch A and B-Class Special Editions in India

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is pressing its escalator to launch a series of new cars in India. The company has now established that it will be bringing the celebration editions of its A Class and B Class to India in the coming weeks.

The changes are likely to be more on the diesel variants of Mercedes Benz A and B Class hatchbacks and rumors suggests that we can expect features like panoramic sunroof, rear seat central armrest, front passenger seat with memory function and electric adjustment and updated reverse camera. In addition to this, the B-Class is also likely to get rear seat entertainment systems.

There will be no changes under the top of these special edition cars over the standard ones and both the A- and B-class Edition 1 will have the same old 107bhp 2.2-liter diesel motor. What Mercedes will change, though, the ground clearance of the A- and B-class in Edition 1S. The change is a result of customer feedback concerning these cars bottoming out on Indian roads and the carmaker will from now on undertake the same change on all Mercedes models on sale in India.

Mercedes India has said that these entry-level compact models are not only helping relocate the brand as “younger” and “sportier” but are also wooing new customers. In fact, entry-level models account for about 20 percent of Mercedes’s sales in India.

With the launch of these special edition hatchbacks, Mercedes-Benz is hoping to grow its share of India’s luxury segment.
